During this 8 week class, students will learn how to see the world as an artists sees it. We will start with line drawing techniques and learn basic hand/eye coordination. By learning how to identify positive and negative shapes we will learn how to draw objects accurately. Light, shadow, tonal values and perspective will be taught using simple shapes and still-life objects. Eventually we will be drawing interesting and beautiful subjects from nature and more.
The Drawing for Beginners class is a prerequisite for the advanced classes. Advanced students will be challenged to draw more complex subjects. Students also have the option to transition into painting or drawing in color, using the medium of their choice including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel or color pencil. They will learn the fundamentals of color mixing and how light and shadow affect color.
